Pupil Premium & Recovery Premium

Principles

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is funding provided for schools, which is additional to main school funding. The grant is designed to help boost the progress and attainment of disadvantaged pupils and reduce the gap between the lowest and highest attainers. It is allocated to schools for pupils in Years R to 11, who are known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or who have been eligible for FSM in the past six years (Ever 6), children who are Looked After (LAC) or who have parents in the armed forces.

Recovery Premium is part of the government's package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by Covid-19. It is a time-limited grant (to 2023-24).

We recognise that not all pupils who are ‘socially disadvantaged’ are registered or qualify for Free School Meals, and we reserve the right to allocate the pupil premium funding to support any pupils or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being ‘socially disadvantaged.’ PPG is allocated following an internal needs analysis, which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals.
